ROMANIA – Gabriel

What inspired me to join the community was my involvement in various Erasmus projects.

I wanted to create opportunities rather than wait for them to come my way. In particular, Generation EU played a big role in connecting me with different communities. This motivated me to expand our impact, focusing on both national and European projects with a strong community-oriented approach.

Thanks to our efforts, two years ago, we opened two youth centres in Romania and now we have over 200 000 young people participating in activities such as boot camps and taking part in events organised by parliament. We do this together, as I always say: this is not about me, this is about us.

Our next step is to take our activities to national level, launching a campaign to increase voter turnout in Romania. Informed and empowered citizens are vital for a stronger Europe. We will reach out to schools, local regions and communities, organising engaging activities such as European cafes, living libraries and discussions with influential figures. We aim to inspire young people in Romania by showing them the positive impact of Europe.

Therefore, my message to all first-time voters is believe in yourselves! I always tell my fellow volunteers that they have the power to be superheroes. Through action, they can make the impossible happen.

I love my community, Romania, but most of all I love all of the things Europe has created. It is about us.
